This past week we have been learning about the Polynesian migration. This contained things on where people went to during these times and how they got here. Lets start off with telling you on the places they discovered and went to. They started off in South-East Asia and went to many different Islands as they traveled across the sea. The islands they went to were Samoa, Tonga, Papa New Guinea, Solomon Islands, Marshal Islands, Guam and Hawaii. They got through all the Islands before finding New Zealand.

The way that they knew they were going the right way was:

  • The birds that flew across the sky (it meant they were close to land)
  • The water (the waves tell you what way you’re going….so this basically includes the wind.)
  • The sun can help you too!
  • The clouds (the clouds can slowly move sometimes. so that can help you!)
